Chael Sonnen pretty much admits that he doens't have the stand up skill that Anderson Silva has. He also admists that he has to drop Silva on his back to win this fight. When asked directly what he would do if Anderson Silva starts dancing or "clowning" around in the ring, what he would do and he says he has no plan. He's not sure. We'll you'd better anticipate every angle if you're gonna fight a guy who uses unorthodox setups to knock your ass out. He's not clowning around, he's making you believe that he's dropping his guard so you rush in and then next thing you know you're asleep.
Don't thing for a minute that this is a joke or a game for him. He's smart enough to know what he's doing and it's worked flawlessly several times. It's part of his style, not just play time.
One thing that I have to say is, he's in for a rude awakening. He might have what he thinks is a winning attitude, but he's got a piss poor attitude when it comes to respect and respecting other fighters in the game that have earned their ranks. Silva "clowns" becauase he can. Not because he's entertainining. If you ran through your oponents like he has done, you'd have to add some flare to your fights too.
Don't get me wrong, Chael appears to be an intelligent person, but that does not stop the Spider. Strategy and intelligence play a huge roll in a fight, but in his case it's more errogance and disresepect that he's displaying than true intelligence and understanding.
What he is engaging in is a war, best case. Worst case, he's been talking shit for quite a while and he gets shut up real quick and looks like a fool. No matter how you look at it, he'll be the one on the floor tapping or napping at the end. He's getting his fifteen minutes of fame bashing the Nog brothers, Silva, and the country of Brazil.
Personally I'd like to see Chael get put in a position where he has to stand with Silva where Silva is really comfortable. He're he'll lose the fight for sure. However, Silva can choke your ass out wit the quickness. Chael seems to thing that he can drop him to his back with his wrestling, but I don't see it. Silva will defend the take down expecting that Chael will want to go to the ground.
I dobut he'll get him on his back and if he does, I don't think he he's going to be able to handle Silva's ground game the way he thinks he can. I think Chael is simply shit talking and he's gonna come into this fight over-confident and make a real quick mistake. He'll either get knocked out or submitted on his own mistake.
Anone who has studied martial arts and has engaged in any sort of martial arts training, knows to put up and shut up. Before a Jiu Jitsu match you don't shit talk and then fight, you fight and if you destroy your opponent then you earn your bragging rights. It's bad for the sport, just shut your face and fight. Talk some smack if you want, but you don't have to go on and on and on. You look like a fool. Now go and lose and see what you look like after you've talked your talk and weeble wobbled your way through the walking.
I say Chael Sonnen under estimates Anderson Silva, lasts the first round, but gets knocked out or triangled in the second.

Can Edgar Do It Again, or Was BJ Penn off His Game?
I'm a huge BJ Penn fan and it broke my heart to see him lose. I gotta wonder what the outcome of the rematch will be. I see Penn coming back and reclaiming what is his?
Who Puts on the Best Show, The Big Boys or the 145'ers?
Personally, for me it's the little guys that fight like a Pit Bull with no option but to come out on top. Not to take credit from the heavyweights, but a one shot knockout just doesn't cut it for me. Go five minutes straight looking for 50 different submissions while still exchanging and clenching up, now that's a fight. Hugging and kissing while you rub heads gathering up enough energy to throw another over the top hook, leaves me with something to be desired.
One punch knock out power is great if you want to see a quick fight and clap for your favorite big dog, but watch the little guys take head shots time and time again and come back for more, makes me wanna put it down.

UFC - Just a Major Marketing Power or Good for Sport Fighting
Here's the question. Ask any joe on the street these days and everyone knows what or who UFC is, but do they really know what sport fighting is and what makes a real fighter? UFC, a Microsoft style marketing engine or good for the sport of fighting? Don't get me wrong, Tapout an UFC brought sport fighting to the masses, but is UFC just a money maker, or is UFC actually educating people on the are of fighting for sport or passion if that's your bag?
Wearing a shirt or a hat with a brand logo doesn't make you an expert on the sport. Hell, I see people wearing Yankees caps all the time and half of 'em don't know squat about the sport of baseball.

Hands Down, Who's Got the Best Chin in MMA???
In your honest opinion, who has the absolute best chin in MMA? Were talking about someone who can take solid shots, possibly right on the button and keep on fighting.
Personally, off the top of my head, I have to say Chris Leben. I've seen Chris take a shot, watch his eyes roll and then watch him push forward to knock out his opponent with strikes of his own not long after. I don't recall the exact fight, but I'll dig it up and post a link to the video if I can find it.

Your Personal Top Twenty Fighters!
This is a little wider scope of choices. Let's face it, to decide on your top five fighters is tough. More than one fighter who deserves to be in the top five is bound to be left out.
However, there is a lot more wiggle room when deciding your top twenty fighters. Hell you might even want to add Kimbo Slice for all I know. There's a hell of a lot of fighters out there. Let's just say Chris "The Crippler" Leben had better make your list. Another sleeper, and I say sleeper because he's not a UFC, Pride, or StrikeForce marketing engine, is Eddie Bravo. Anyone who knows anything about Jiu Jitsu knows who Eddie Bravo is.
So let's see it people, who's your top twenty fighters!!! I'll even give you a cheat sheet to help you pick ten

Who are Your Favorite Five Mixed Martial Arts Fighters?
Who are your top five favorite fighters? I'm not asking for who is the best pound-for-pound rankings. I want your personal opinion on who your five favorite fighters are, wins and losses aside.
Mine are in no specific order:
The Ice Man
BJ Penn
Georges St-Pierre
Anderson Silva
Wanderlei Silva
Who are yours?

Carwin vs. Lesnar!!!
I'm really interested in what all you MMA junkies have to say about this fight. Is it what you expected? Did Shane Carwin just gas out? Whose truly the better fighter, not just who won the fight, simply whose better.
Here is my opinion. Shane Cawin would have destroyed Brock. He lit him up and dropped him like a hot potatoe. His one mistake was gassing out. He had Brock running and landed him on his back. While Brock lay rocked in the fetal position, instead of forcing him to his feat, or working for a submission, he put all his energy into continuing the barage of strikes. It takes a lot of energy to keep hitting a brick wall. When it's doing no damange, dont waste the energy. Force your oponent to their feet where they have no choice but to bang with you.
Carwin made the mistake of gassing out. That's what lost him the fight. He's a better fighter and would have beat Brock, but he didn't bottom line. A win is a win. My opinion is Carwin is a better fighter, he might not have been smarter at UFC 116, but he's the better fighter.

Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva - Chime In!
In my honest opinion, this is a no-brainer. Silva posseses superior standup, is a more seasoned fighter and has already defeated fighters that Sonnen has lost to. Silva is simply to long and tall for Sonnen. Sonnen has heart and talks, but can he back it up.
I don't think he can. We all know that anybody can win at any time. All it takes is one little mistake, but Silva hasn't made that mistake yet. He's fought better fighters than Sonnen and done it with ease. He's even gotten bored and started show-boating to entertain himself. Which, I have to admit, does aggravate me a little.
I'm sorry to say, Sonnen doesn't get my vote. I expect that Sonnen will charge in, which will be a big mistake. Silva is going to look for his traditional laid back keep you back stance and Muy Thai style. He's gonna work his legs and fell out Sonnen. If Sonnen charges like a bull, he's gonna hit a brick wall of knees and dirty boxing.
What are your thoughts? Break it down...
